About Baan Arun

A learning home for the AI era.

Baan Arun brings workshops, coursework, and community together so people can learn AI in a practical, human-centered way.

What guides the work.

Our teaching framework will evolve with the community, but these principles establish what belongs in every course and workshop.

01

Useful over impressive

We teach toward real decisions and working outcomes, not tool demonstrations for their own sake.

02

Practice over passive watching

People learn by making, testing, discussing, and improving something they understand.

03

Judgment stays human

Responsible use, verification, privacy, and clear limits are part of the method from the beginning.

Meet the founder

John Vilaikeo

John Vilaikeo has spent nearly three decades making complex technology simple, dependable, and useful — for global companies and for the communities he calls home.

He has built and scaled platforms for some of the world’s best-known technology companies, and today applies that experience to AI, cloud, and online communities. Through it all, one thing hasn’t changed: he loves helping people turn a complicated idea into something that actually works.

Beyond technology, John has spent years leading Thai-American cultural, scholarship, and youth initiatives in Northern California — service recognized by the communities he supported. That spirit of teaching, welcoming, and building together is the foundation of Baan Arun.

The name

Baan Arun means a home at dawn.

บ้าน is home. อรุณ is dawn. Together they express the kind of place we want to build: welcoming, optimistic, and ready for a new way of working and learning.

Baan Arun will begin in Thailand and remain open to a broader international community as the program grows.
